Gratitude

November 24, 2022

“The wolf shall live with the lamb; the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the lion will feed together, and a little child shall lead them.” ~ Isaiah 11:6

Rod and I fly home from Florida tomorrow after spending four days at Disney World and Animal Kingdom with our son Seth, our son-in -law Jean-Philippe, and our two youngest granddaughters Anne-Sophie and Marie-Helene. We made the same trip with our sons in the ‘80’s and with our older grandchildren and their parents in 2012.

The privilege of being able to provide these adventures is not lost on us. The biggest challenge in these four days, aside from not losing anyone, has been ordering our days to get into the most desirable rides and shows while avoiding long lines.

As we sit at dinner each evening, the question we ask is, “What was your favorite thing today.” I expected that those things would be things…the Jungle Boat Ride, It’s a Small World After All, or meeting life-sized Disney Princesses in person. But instead in the sweet soft voices of young children, the first word is always “family.” Go figure. The best things in life aren’t things.

Deeply grateful for the wisdom of children. ~ Anne
