“You may make your plans, but God directs your actions.” ~ Proverbs 16:9
…Apparently not our plans. May next year in Jerusalem, but not this year. Our planned trip to the Holy Land was canceled due to the war. This is inconvenient, a bit disappointing, but not anywhere near the end of the world. More like a minor detour than the end of the road. As Rod put it, “I don’t want the trip of a lifetime to be the last trip.” He got that one right.
What is happening in the Holy Land is horrific. Hundreds of innocent lives are being lost, and those who survive will be forever changed by the violence and carnage. Psalm 122:6 says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.’” Everyone involved in this age-old conflict has a claim on Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Please pray for peace, pray that combatants will realize that bloodshed doesn’t end bloodshed. That life is precious. That the peacemakers will be called children of God.
May we all be called children of God, makers of peace. ~ Anne
