“Remind me each morning of your constant love, for I put my trust in you. My prayers go up to you; show me the way I should go”.
~ Psalm 143:8 GNT
I often wake up with a song running through my head. When I was getting up at 3:30 am on Monday morning to beat the traffic around Chicago to arrive at North Park Seminary in time for an 8 am class, I almost always woke up with “My Baby Takes the Morning Train”. That got me up and at ‘em. Other times it’s an annoying jingle that I can’t shake the rest of the day.
Yesterday, I woke up with Fanny Crosby’s “All the Way My Savior Leads Me”. It was just what I needed, and it stuck with me all day. Fanny Crosby wrote the lyrics to a number of hymns in the mid 19th Century. She was blind, and so this particular hymn held a double measure of truth for her. Interesting that the words of a blind woman guided me on the day I packed my sister’s things.
Psalm 143:6 is a request to be reminded every morning of God’s constant love. Crosby’s lyrics were the answer in my head before I opened my eyes.
Thank you for showing me how to go on a difficult day. ~ Anne
