With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians ~ 4:2
Do you feel bad when you are sick? I don’t mean the obvious. Of course it feels bad to be sick. I mean the disappointed in your body, in yourself, for getting sick. Sick way of thinking, isn’t it?
But n my flight home from Mississippi, I started getting a cough. I’ve spent last two weeks coughing. Bronchitis is my Achilles Heel, and I am finally starting to feel good. That’s were patience comes in. I’m good at being patient with others, and not so good about patience with myself.
Healing takes time, from bronchitis, and apparently from my less-than-patient-with-my-self self.
When I tuck myself in bed tonight I am going to take a minute to give myself a hug, and thank God for the reminder that bearing with one another with patience, includes bearing with myself with patience.
I suspect that this is an important lesson in retirement. ~ Anne
