“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” ~ Psalm 119:11 NLT
Every event in gymnastics ends with a landing, whether dismounting from the uneven parallel bars, or finishing a vault. The goal is to stick the landing, with both feet firmly planted together on the mat, without needing an extra step.

During one of the vaults, a commentator mentioned how difficult it is to stick the landing because the gymnast, spinning, flipping and twisting during the dismount, cannot see the ground until the very last moment before her or his feet hit the mat. Talk about flying blind without instruments to guide your landing.
The gymnasts have practiced their landings so many times that while they can’t see the mat until the last moment, their body and mind have a memory of where they are in space. That reminds me of Psalm 119:11. When we have hidden the Word of God in our hearts, without even thinking about it, words from the Bible come to mind to keep us on track. Rather than missing the mark (one way to describe sin), we are able to stick the landing.
Picture it in your mind. You head and heart are spinning, twisted about by the things that so easily distract you. Suddenly, a Bible verse comes to mind, reorienting you to your true identity. Ta Da, you, with God’s help, stick the landing. The crowd of witnesses goes wild with cheers and applause! Score one for God – and you.
Blessings,
Anne
