Savor the moments

Merry Christmas!

Before the moments of this day get buried under discarded wrapping paper; pushed to the back of your mind like the stuffing in the turkey; and overwhelmed by a feast of food, family, and friends; pause.

Inhale slowly, breathing in the scents of Christmas, the simple pleasures of lights on a tree, a Christmas card, a smile, a few notes of music, a memory of times past, the reality that you are awake and breathing, the sense awe and mystery that is the birth and gift of Immanuel, God with us. Exhale slowly, breathing out the hurry and worry in your body and your being.

Give yourself the present of this sacred, unrepeatable moment. Inhale deeply as you recall the thoughts, sensations, and emotions evoke. Exhale slowly, giving thanks for this moment of gift and grace.

Repeat often!

My prayer this morning is that each of us savors the precious moments we’ve been given. They are God’s gift to you. ~ Anne
